REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries detained six Vietnamese ships for illegal fishing. The ships illegally entered Indonesian territorial sea and fished in Indonesian waters.
The ministry'ss officers also netted an Indonesian flagged ship with foreign crew members. The vessel was arrested in a separate occasion.
"The Indonesian flagged motor vessel called KM Mandiri Citra Jaya carrying 13 Viatnamese crew members that arrested in Natuna sea and they could not produce their license," said Director of Marine Resource, Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Syahrin Abdurrahman on Sunday.
Earlier, government held an patrol operation on April 7-14. Abdurrahman said that 99.5 percent of the foreign fishing vessels illegally fished in Indonesian waters.
