REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs Gamawan Fauzi officially declared 11 new autonomous regions in Indonesia. He also asked newly appointed governors and regents to prepare power transition immediately.
"Hopefully, the government and people in new autonomous regions can improve their quality in services and development," Fauzi said on Monday.
The 11 autonomous areas are North Borneo Province, Pangandaran City (West Java), Pesisir Barat District (Lampung), South Manokwari (West Papua) and Pegunungan Arfa (West Papua). Next, Mahakam Ulu (East Kalimantan), Malacca (East Nusa Tenggara), Banggai Laut (Central Sulawesi), Taliabu (North Maluku), Penukal Abab (South Sumatra) and East Kolaka.
