REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANJARNEGARA - Indonesian Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) in Bandung announced that seismic activities of Timbang crater Dieng Plateau in Central Java decreased. Dieng is one of tourism villages in Central Java and famous with its beautiful lanscape and mountainous scenery.
Head of PVMBG Surono said there were no seismic activities recorded in Timbang crater. “But the status remains alert,” Surono said on Tuesday.
Based on visual observation, the weather around the crater was sunny and the wind blew at low.
Timbang crater produced thick white smoke and low air presssure. The crater raised concerns due to an arthquake on April 19 night that caused small crack at the mountain slopes. PVMBG asked people to leave their houses in the area after the earthquake cracked the moutain slope.
