With costume and riding a horse, Jokowi opens Jakarnaval

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Governor of Jakarta, Joko Widodo or Jokowi, opened Jakarnaval 2013 on Sunday. He rode a horse and wore unique costume while people kept calling his name and took photographs of him. 

During the parade he wore red pulover with golden vest. He paired them with checkered fabric in red and black then wore a pair of brown sandals. But his high hat really drew public attention, it was made of woven material and accessorized with beads.   

Jokowi left the city hall at 03.30 pm then arrived at the roundabout of Hotel Indonesia at 05.00 pm. He led the convoy of parade unique cars and participants who als wore costumes. 

Jakarnaval is a yearly event presented by Governor of Jakarta and Jakarta Metro police. This time the city celebrates the 486th year of Jakarta's birthday.
