REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - People's Conscience Party or Hanura officially announced Wiranto and Hary Tanoesoedibjo as candidates for president and vice president for the 2014 election. Wiranto who also former military commander period 1998-1999 explained that different background between him and Tanoesoedibjo would be a tool to change the country in the future.

"I and Hary Tanoesoedibjo are committed to take the lead role to change Indonesia, as candidates of president and vice president in 2014. With my experience in leading center of military organization, as well as my partner's experience as a successful entrepreneur, we believe that we are good combination," Wiranto said on Tuesday.

Hanura is the first political party to declare candidates for president and vice president, even though the 2014 election is still in the stage of legislative candidacy. In 2009 election, Hanura got 18 seats or 3.21 percent  in the House of Representatives.

Wiranto said that he would take responsibility for violations of human rights issues in May 1998 riots which always raised when he nominate himself as presidential candidate.

"I will be responsible that what I did in the past always based on the laws and policies of the country. I open for discussing the matter,"  Wiranto said.

Wiranto said that in May 1998 the country experienced severe multi-dimensional crisis. As Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defence during the reign of Soeharto, Wiranto should be able to solve problems that occured in the country.
