REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Chairman of National Mandate Party (PAN), Hatta Rajasa, met with Governor of Jakarta, Joko Widodo or Jokowi. Vice Chairman of PAN, Dradjad Wibowo explained Jokowi and Rajasa actually discussed economic development. Rajasa acted as Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, while Jokowi as Governor of Jakarta and also member of Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP).
"Jokowi told about early stage of development of Jakarta monorail to Mr Rajasa. But, as political leaders they also discussed current political situation, including election," Wibowo said on Monday.
The meeting was held at residence of Chairman of PDIP, Megawati Sukarnoputri at Teuku Umar Street, Menteng, Central Jakarta last week. Wibowo confirmed that the dicussion was not about Presidential Election. However, Wibowo said PAN was possible to encourage Jokowi and Rajasa to form a coalition.
Chairman of Central Board of PAN, Bima Arya said that beside Jokowi Rajasa also considered Chairman of Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) Prabowo Subianto as potential candidates for its coalition partner. Because majority surveys show that Jokowi and Prabowo sit at the top positions.
Chairman of Central Board of PDIP, Maruarar Sirait said PDIP likely to form coalition with other parties. But, the decision is at the hand of Megawati.
