REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has signed Law No. 17/2013 on mass organization. The regulation firmly prohibits any mass organization to act against any different ethnic, religious, racial and social background including abuse, defamation, separatism and desecration of any religion in Indonesia.
"Mass organization is prohibited to raise fund for political party and embrace, develop, spread teachings contrary to Pancasila (five moral principles of Indonesia)," reads Article 59 Paragraph 3b and 4.
The law also bans mass organization to act violance, disturbing peace and public order, damaging public and social facilities, or conduct activities that will disturb law enforcement. Central or local government may impose administrative sanctions on mass organization that violates the regulation.
Sanctions consist of letter of warning, assistance or grant termination, activity suspension, as well as revocation their legal status.
