REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR – Bali Regional House of Representative plans to relocate provincial capital, from Denpasar to Karangasem regency. This idea gets positive response from Karangasem residents.

"We are awaiting the realization," a resident of Karangasem, Ali Husein said on Thursday.

Relocation of provincial capital to Karangasem will positively impact to economic development. It can balance development between western and eastern Bali, as well as north and south.

A member of Regional House of Representative, Gde Sumarjaya Linggih, earlier proposed Bali provincial capital to be relocated to Kubu district in Karangasem regency. Kubu is located in north of Karangasem, at the border to Buleleng regency. Kubu village is laid at foot of Mount Agung.

Governor of Bali, Made Mangku Pastika praised the relocation idea as positive and must put it under consideration since Denpasar is too crowded.
