REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Aceh will change its flag after central and local government met. They agreed to establish a team to facilitate the flag change.  

"Government of Aceh has established its own team and team from central government will joun them to redesign the flag emblem so the new flag will not bear any sign of separatist movement," Minister of Home Affairs, Gamawan Fauzi said on Saturday.

Earlier, former Vice President Jusuf Kalla participated to share his views in a meeting with government of Aceh. Kalla is known as one of initiators and achievement of a peace agreement in Helsinki in 2005. After the meeting, the government agreed not to hoisting red flag bearing star and crescent which is also a symbol of Free Aceh Movement (GAM) on August 15, 2013. The day corresponds with the signing of peace agreement in 2005. Under the agreement, Aceh receives special autonomy under the Republic of Indonesia.
