REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Since eruption of Mount Rokatenda in October 2012, there are 3,760 Palue Island residents headed to Ende, Sikka and Flores Island.
“People were gradually evacuated," Head of Data, Information and Public Relation of National Agency for Disaster Management (BNPB) Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said last weekend.
On Monday, some residents in Palue Island headed to Sikka district using regular boats. Currently there are about 7,000 people in Palue Island with 1,322 people live in hazardous areas.
Housing becomes crucial issue for all refugees and affected their settlement. So far BNPB has handed over 13.1 billion IDR for houses construction and 6.6 billion IDR for relocation in Ende district and 6.5 billion IDR for relocation in Sikka district. Governor and local regents are expected to address any problem occuring in disaster management
