REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA - Minister of Forestry Zulkifli Hasan said he would issue a permit letter to Surabaya City Government to manage the ill-managed Surabaya Zoo. 

"We revoked the old permit (of the previous zoo management -Ed) because food and animal health was very bad, then we will give new permission to city government to manage Surabaya Zoo under supervision of Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA)," Hasan said on Tuesday.

Hasan said the city government must provide healthy food, animal fat, healthy cages and fulfill other animal rights. 

Mayor of Surabaya, Tri Rismaharini sets her target to improve Surabaya Zoo in three years. City government prepared budget of 60 billion IDR for management in next five years. Government had made various efforts, including to rise salaries of employees.

"Surabaya Zoo will meet some international standard, such as sea world zoo and night zoo in order to attract attention of visitors," Rismaharini said.
