REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono opened new toll road in Bali and named it Bali Mandara.
"Mandara means great or large. It is also motto of development of Bali which is safe, peaceful and prosperous," Yudhoyono said recently.
Bali Mandara toll road connects the golden triangle areas, namely Nusa Dua, Kuta and Denpasar. It was built by consortium of seven state owned enterprises, namely PT Jasa Marga with 55 percent ownership, Indonesia Port Corporation III (17.8 percent), Angkasa Pura I (8 percent).
Next, Adhi Karya, Hutama Karya and BTDC each one percent, as well as Wijaya Karya (0.40 percent). Bali provincial government and Badung regency each has 8.01 percent. The consortium then established PT Jasa Marga Bali Tol (JBT).
President Director of JBT, Akhmad Tito Karim said construction of Bali Mandara toll road was funded by borrowed capital from seven banks, namely BNI, Mandiri, BRI, BCA, BTN, Bank BPD Bali worth 1.7 trillion IDR and Bank Permata 400 billion IDR. The development also used paid up capital by each shareholder.
Bali Mandara toll road is 12.7 kilometers long, crossing over the waters of Benoa Bay. Bali Mandara toll road will overcome traffic jam in Nusa Dua, Kuta and Denpasar.
