REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANJARNEGARA -- Artifact or archaeological site was discovered in Dieng plateau. It is located near the new temple discovered in September 2013, at Pangonan hill, Banjarnegara district, Central Java.
"Officers of Archaeological Heritage Preservation Agency are still not able to confirm the site's form, whether a part of the new temple or other forms. We are still doing research," Vice Regent of Banjarnegara, Hadi Supeno said last weekend.
Supeno hopes that Archaeological Heritage Preservation Agency can do further research and conducts conservation of the finding of this artifact. In the future, it can be known if the finding of second artifact related to the finding of the first artifact or not.
"Since the finding of a temple at Pangonan hill, I expect that there are other artifacts. It's true that not far from location of the first finding, other artifact was found," Supeno said.
This new site was found on Thursday, October 17. At that time, Bejo (a member of Pandawa, Tourism Awareness Group) and his friends wanted to see sunset from Pangonan hill. When he was looking for the best location to see sunset, he walked on an area where many stones were buried in the ground.
"Once we observed and we dug the ground, we found many pieces of stones buried in the ground," Supeno said.
Some people expect that this second artifact is a place of Hindu priest in the past to prepare religious ceremony. This location is called Dharmasala.
