REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR - Having mobile phone device in prison is prohibited. However, 30 percent inmates in Bali, especially in Kerobokan prison are still having it. 

"We managed to confiscate it back and we have destroyed it," Head of Division of Prisons in Bali, Sunar Agus said recently.

There were about 900 mobile phones confiscated in Bali's prisons, as well as a number of sharp weapons, such as arrows, machetes and axes. Some inmates also have laptops and alcoholic beverages. All prohibited items were brought into the prison.

Agus said that Ministry of Law and Human Rights would make prisons in Indonesia free from mobile devices, illegal levies and narcotics. He said that it was not an easy job. If an inmate wants to communicate with his or her family members, officer has provided a public phone for inmates.
