REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Construction of five Jakarta traditional markets spends costs of 50 billion IDR. Its fund comes from compensation fund of city-owned market operator PD Pasar Jaya with private sector in revitalization of Bendungan Hilir market project.
"The construction will be completed in six to seven months," Director of PD Pasar Jaya, Djangga Lubis said on Wednesday.
Lubis added that five traditional markets will be built this year. These markets are prepared for vendors who have been there and also street vendors around the market. All vendors will not be charged. They are only required to pay levy cost, such as cost of security, sanitation, electricity and water usage.
Vendors who have occupied traditional markets may not assign their business license to third party. All vendors will sign a lease agreement for one year and its business can be extended annually.
Jakarta provincial government will build at least five traditional markets, namely Manggis market which is consisted of 384 stalls, Pesanggrahan market (161 stalls), Kebon Bawang market (119 stalls), Kampung Duri market (108 stalls) and Nangka Bungur market (163 stalls).
