REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MEDAN -- Police in Asahan, North Sumatra province arrested two fishermen carrying some 57 kilograms of methamphetamine at about 8.30am on Saturday.
One of the fisherman, known as Sr alias Kudeng, age 40, is a resident of Teluk Nibung, Tanjung Balai, Asahan, while the other, Sy alias Coy, age 30, is a villager from Hamlet 3, Bagan Asahan, Tanjung Balai, North Sumatra regional police command spokesman Adjunct Senior Commissioner MP Nainggolan, said here.
The two were caught by marine police of the Asahan police resort in the Tanjung Api waters in Bagan Asahan.
Police report confiscating 50 packages of methamphetamine from the fishermen, weighing about 57 kilograms.
The two fishermen were immediately taken to the Asahan resort police headquarters for further investigation.
Police are still developing the case, as they seek to determine who the owner of the drugs is and where the drugs originated from, he said.
