REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MAMUJU -- Health Minister Nafsiah Mboi has praised medical workers in West Sulawesi for their serving people in the province's remote areas.

"I highly appreciate the performance of medical workers in providing medical services to people in remote areas," Nafsiah said at a working meeting with hundreds of medical workers here on Saturday.

She asked medical workers in remote areas to always provide good services to the public for the sake of the Indonesian nation's progress.

"That workers come from remote areas to attend the working meeting for health in Mamuju shows that they have an extraordinary spirit to develop the health sector in this region," Nafsiah said.

Because of the significant role played by medical workers in remote areas, the development of the health sector in West Sulawesi has made progress, which put it in third place among the country's 33 provinces in terms of health development, she said.

"The health services in West Sulawesi are improving and they must be maintained and increased in the future," she said.

While in West Sulawesi, the minister also signed a memorandum of understanding with Governor Anwar Adnan Saleh to implement a health insurance program in the province.
