LPP: Jokowi has 20 challengers for 2014 presidential election

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Political Psychology Research Laboratory (LPP) of University of Indonesia predicts that Joko Widodo, the current governor of Jakarta popularly known as Jokowi, has 20 rivals to compete at the next year's presidential election. Chairman of LPP, Hamdi Muluk said that those strongest rivals were chosen by 61 experts. 

"We are trying to figure out who are good competitors to build healthy democracy. Stop survey, because its result will be the same. We are looking for qualified figures," Muluk said on Sunday.

These experts examined each visionary, leadership, intellect, political skills, political communication, emotional stability, manajerial ability and moral integrity. 

Those 20 names are Ahmad Heryawan (Governor of West Java), Ganjar Pranowo (Governor of Central Java), Tri Rismaharini (Mayor of Surabaya), Soekarwo (Governor of East Java), and also Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Deputy Governor of Jakarta). There are also Djarot Saiful Hidayat (former Mayor of Blitar), La Tinro La Tunrung (Mayor of Enrekang), Herry Zudyanto (former Mayor of Yogyakarta), Rustriningsih (former Deputy Governor of Central Java), and Agustiana (Chairman of Pasundan Farmer's Union) also enter as good figures.

The other potential contenders are Emirsyah Satar (President Director of Garuda Indonesia), Anies Baswedan (Academician), Henry Saragih (Chairman of Indonesian Farmer's Union), Said Iqbal (Chairman of  Confederation of Indonesian Workers Union), Abraham Samad (Chairman of Corruption Eradication Commission), Chatib Basri (Minister of Finance), Chairul Tanjung (President Director of Trans Corp), Sri Mulyani (Director of World Bank), Ignatius Jonan (President Director of KAI), and Eko Prasojo (Administrative Reforms Deputy Minister).

Muluk explained that 61 experts agreed that those 21 names were qualified to be Indonesian leaders. They are young with good integrity and have never been involved in outlaw cases, especially corruption, collusion, and nepotism.

Dan mereka (Ahli Kitab) tidak berpecah belah kecuali setelah datang kepada mereka ilmu (kebenaran yang disampaikan oleh para nabi) karena kedengkian antara sesama mereka. Jika tidaklah karena suatu ketetapan yang telah ada dahulunya dari Tuhanmu (untuk menangguhkan azab) sampai batas waktu yang ditentukan, pastilah hukuman bagi mereka telah dilaksanakan. Dan sesungguhnya orang-orang yang mewarisi Kitab (Taurat dan Injil) setelah mereka (pada zaman Muhammad), benar-benar berada dalam keraguan yang mendalam tentang Kitab (Al-Qur'an) itu.
