REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PONTIANAK -- Around 58 shophouses (Ruko) in the Seluas village, Bengkayang District, burned down before New Year's Eve 2014, leaving billions of rupiah losses, a witness said.
Mujidi, a resident of Bengkayang when contacted here on Wednesday said that the fire accident occurred when most homeowners were not in their residential locations.
"Some of the residents went to Singkawang or Pontianak," he said, noting that the distance of Bengkayang to Pontianak about 220 kilometers.
The buildings which caught fire among other things the office of bank BRI, clothing stores, drug stores, garages, restaurants, electronic stores, private homes.
Apart from that, three residents sustained injuries in the incident.
The incident allegedly triggered by one of the children who played fireworks near a motorcycle which than caused fire.
