REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono would decide the price on non subsidized LPG on Sunday, Vice President Boediono said on Saturday. Earlier the president asked government to review 12 kg liquefied petrolem gas (LPG) price hikes. He sees that business is the main reason behind the price hike.

"President assessed a report that the increase of 12 kg LPG cylinder had become a public concern," Presidential Spokesman, Julian Aldrin Pasha said on Saturday.

President asked Vice President Boediono to coordinate with related ministries, agencies and state enterprises. Boediono then asked several ministers and economic officials to the meeting to discuss the rising prices of nonsubsidized LPG on Saturday.

Earlier, state owned oil and gas company, PT Pertamina, increased LPG price of 12 kilogram capacity, from 70,200 IDR to 117,708 IDR per cylinder, effective on January 1, 2014. The decision was based on the recommendation by Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) after finding that Pertamina suffered 7.73 trillion IDR in financial losses from the sale of non-subsidized LPG from 2011 to October 2012.
