REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia has sent 512,168 migrant workers abroad in 2013, increased from 494,609 migrant workers in 2012. It is triggered by the tightening of data collection in migrant workers' placement, such as in Sambas and Entikong. Many workers were not recorded previous years.
"The figure increased 3.6 percent or 17,559 migrant workers compared to previous year," Head of National Agency for the Placement and Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (BNP2TKI), Jumhur Hidayat said recently.
