REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDA ACEH -- Four Aceh fishermen after floating in the Malacca Strait for 24 hours were rescued by a foreign vessel on Saturday, chief of Aceh's National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) Budi Cahyadi said here on Sunday.
He said that his side had evacuated the four ill-fated fishermen from the foreign cargo ship to the main land on Sunday.
Cahyadi said the foreign vessel which flew a Marshal Islands' flag, was sailing in the international waters when they found the ill-fated fishermen.
After rescuing the fishermen, the foreign cargo vessel contacted the Basarnas that it had rescued four Aceh fishermen on Saturday.
The fishermen were floating for about 24 hours on the water after their fishing boat were smashed by huge waves.
The four fishermen were Razali, skipper (57), M Ridwan (22), Syafie (40) and Razali (42). They were using wooden fishing boat 'KM Hidup Baru."
