REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Hatta Rajasa had a coordinating meeting at State Logistics Agency (Bulog) office in North Jakarta. He concluded that food supply and prices were relatively stable.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Agriculture Suswono, Minister of Forestry Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Maritime and Fishery Sharif Cicit Sutardjo, Deputy Minister of Trade Bayu Krisnamurthi, Deputy Minister of Public Works Hermanto Dardak, Chairman of Statistics Indonesia Suryamin, and Chairman of Bulog Sutarto Alimoeso.
According to data, Bulog has 2,090 million tonnes of rice and 1.42 million tonnes of sugar which sufficient for six month. While soybeans and other food crops can meet public demand, ranging from one to four month. The highest demand on rice is usually reported in January or Fbnruary.
Hatta emphasized that no food shortage reported so far. While the prices are quite stable despite some increase reported slightly. But he admitted that the prices of some other food like red pepper and egg were increasing.
"But the increase is not in annual term," Hatta said.
