REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) concerned over 11 findings and gave 18 recommendations in providing natural resource management licensing of forestry sector. KPK will take legal action against officials and companies over suspicious transactions in forestry sector.

"With a good mapping, good understanding, also good efforts, we can minimize the potential of state loss," KPK Deputy Chairman, Bambang Widjojanto said in a press conference with Minister of Forestry, Zulkifli Hasan recently, as reported by Bilal Ramadhan.

Hasan promised to complete the revision of 18 regulations recommended by KPK, such as Ministry of Forestry Regulation No. 6/2007 on Forestry and Compilation of Forest Management Plan and Forest Utilization and also No. 3/2008.

KPK recommended an abolition of forest boundary obligation for timber forest product utilization (IUPHHK). KPK also recommended government to revise Ministerial Regulation P.50/2010 in conjunction to P.62/2012, so the forest use permits can only be given to areas that have been reserved and designated as state forest land.

KPK also found some weaknesses in government's supervision and control over non-tax state revenue of forestry sector. Government should be able to save 12 trilion IDR as non-tax revenue of forestry sector. In next study, the Commission will apply the Corruption Impact Assassment system for mapping business process and improving trade system of forestry sector.
