Corby leaves Kerobokan penitentiary

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR - Convicted Australian drug smuggler, Schapelle Leigh Corby finally got a parole from Ministry of Justice and Human Rights. She left Kerobokan Penitentiary Clas II-A in Kerobokan, Bali on Monday morning around 08.00 AM with a tight convoy of police and penitentiary officers.

She wore a black and white hat passing the gate of the largest prison in Bali. The drug queen also covered her face entering special car that had been waiting her at the gate. A number of media, both national and internasional, also foreign tourists waited for Corby's freedom.

"Once she was out, Corby will be brought to the prosecutor and the corrections office, known as Bapas," Head of Kerobokan penitentiary, Junaedi Farid said on Monday.

Corby was arrested at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar, Bali, in October 2004 for smuggling 4.2 kilograms of marijuana into Indonesia. She was sentenced to 20 years behind bars and detained at Kerobokan Penitentiary.
