REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- A National Democratic Party post, set up to support its legislative candidate named Zubir HT in Munyee Kunyet Village, Matangkuli Subdistrict, North Aceh District, was shot by two unidentified men on Sunday.

The attackers covered their faces with masks when raiding the post at about 04.20 am local time, said Andan Syahril, a 27-year-old university student who got injured after being hit by the men armed with long rifles.

Adnan told Metro TV that the attackers did not only shoot at the building but also hit him and Saiful Junaidi, a 28-year-old farmer. Saiful was hit on his head and kicked.

Adnan said he had no idea about the attackers' motive but the shooting incident might be related to the fact that locals got benefit from the National Democratic Party's (Nasdem) presence and its people-oriented activities.

In response to the attack, Zubir HT said he deplored the incident that occurred ahead to the parliamentary elections, due to be held on April 9. "I hope the police will immediately probe this shooting incident," he said.

The General Elections Commission (KPU) has decided that 15 political parties in Indonesia have rights to participate in the elections.

Three of them are local parties for Aceh electorate while 12 others are the national ones that will participate in the parliamentary elections in April.

They consist of the National Democratic Party (Nasdem), National Awakening Party (PKB), the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), the Indonesian Democratic Party Struggle (PDIP), Golkar Party (Golkar), and Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra).

Then Democratic Party (Demokrat), National Mandate Party (PAN), United Development Party (PPP), People's Conscience Party (Hanura), Crescent Star Party (PBB), and Indonesian Justice and Unity Party (PKPI).
