REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Political analyst of University of Indonesia, Agung Suprio said that Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party chairman, Prabowo Subianto could compete with Joko Widodo, popularly known as Jokowi, in the next presidential election.
Suprio said, the perfect pair for Subianto was the Chairman of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Abraham Samad in 2014 general election.
"Prabowo - Samad can compete Jokowi. The couple will give a new touch of nuance in political dynamics of Indonesia," Suprio said on Saturday.
Suprio said that Jokowi declaration as presidential candidate of Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) was an attempt to regenerate the leadership body in the party and also at national level. This is a strong signal for other parties to follow suit by paving a way for their young leaders with quality and high electability to compete for the presidential election.
