REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LEIDEN - Indonesian Vice President Boediono has received the medal of William, Price of Orange, from Leiden University for his great contribution to Indonesia's economic development and democracy. Leiden University Rector Professor Carel Stolker awarded the medal after Boediono gave a lecture on sustaining Indonesia's economic and political transformation Wednesday.
Stolker told the university's students and academic staff that Boediono did not only have a great contribution to the development of Indonesia's economy and democracy, but also to the country's cooperation with the Netherlands. In his presentation taking place at the university's academy building, Boediono described about Indonesias promising economic progress.
During his visit to the university, he also viewed several collections in the universitys library and the Hortus Botanicus. Boediono was in the Netherlands from March 24 to 27 to attend the Nuclear Security Summit and have a meeting with Dutch Queen Maxima.
Meanwhile, Indonesian government explores legal cooperation with Leiden University in Netherlands. The legal cooperation mainly focuses on various aspects of state asset's recovery over corruption. Boediono becomes the coordinator in legal cooperation, while members are law enforcement institutions.
"We see many important things, including law enforcement efforts, such as asset recovery as the challenge," Head of the Presidential Work Unit on Monitoring and Controlling. Development (UKP4), Kuntoro Mangkusubroto said in vice presidential visit in The Hague on Wednesday.
