REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The General Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) planned to summon the Democrat Party and state secretary Sudi Silalahi in connection with Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's campaign, Nelson Simanjuntak said here on Friday.
"We plan to summon the Democrat Party as it was the one that had organized the campaign and perhaps later the state secretariat as it was the institution that arranged the President's trip," the Bawaslu member said when asked about President Yudhoyono's campaign issue at his office.
He said Bawaslu had received complaints over alleged violation of campaign rules by the President as the general chairman of the ruling Democrat Party.
With regard to that Bawaslu will immediately follow up on the complaints and because "it is connected with the President we ask parties concerned to cooperate with Bawaslu in order to clarify the issue."
On Friday, the director of Lingkar Madani Indonesia (Lima), Ray Rangkuti and the deputy secretary general of the Independent Committee for Elections Monitoring (KIPP) Indonesia, Girindra Sandrino, complained about alleged campaign rule violations by President Yudhoyono.
"The use of state money for renting a commercial plane for campaign activities cannot be categorized as state facility," Girindra said.
The cost must not come from the state budget, but from the coffers of the Democrat Party, he said.
The president's special aide for political communications Daniel Sparringa, meanwhile, said the President upholds the law on state budget accountability.
In view of that, he said President Yudhoyono plans to invite the State Audit Board at the end of the campaign period to audit his campaign finance.
"The system had been implemented in the 2009 general elections and it will also be used as a reference for assuring transparency and accountability of SBY's campaign," Daniel said.
