REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Democrat Party chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) listed his accomplishments during his two terms in office as President of Indonesia and said it proved that he fulfilled his campaign promises.
"In 2004, the Democrat Party nominated me as a presidential candidate. There were targets that I was to achieve. Have those targets been achieved If any of them has not been achieved, it would not be more significant than the ones we have achieved," he said while campaigning for the party at the JIExpo here on Thursday.
Compared to 2004, exports in 2013 increased nearly three folds, he said.
"Similarly, the capacity of our power plants almost doubled to reach 48,101 megawatts, up from 25,717 megawatts previously. If the Democrat Party is at the helm of the government again, this capacity will be raised up to 50,000 megawatts," he said.
He said his government was also able to enhance connectivity among various regions in the country by raising budget allocations eight-folds for transportation infrastructure development.
"In 2004, budget allocations for infrastructure development stood at Rp8.1 trillion. In 2013, the figure soared to Rp67.4 trillion. That is proof, not a mere promise," he said.
He said during his term of office, the road length in Indonesia increased to 501,969 km from 372,928 km in 2004.
