REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Gerindra party's chairman Suhardi claimed that the party did not lose the maneuver to build coalition like Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP). Gerindra is still seeking cooperative partners and there are political parties targeted to win 2014 presidential election.
"We have got chemistry with Democratic party. It is a great coalition," Suhardi said on Monday.
He added that Gerindra had harmonious relationship with the ruling party. Both chairmen, Prabowo Subianto and Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono have established good friendship. This condition allows both parties to support each other.
"Yes, we are looking for the best time to hold a meeting between Mr. Prabowo and Yudhoyono," Suhardi said.
According to professor of Forestry faculty in Gadjah Mada University, it will be a great chance to make history if both parties joined together. He hopes that Gerindra party will soon get a partner to carry Prabowo as a presidential candidate. Coalitions of Gerindra and Democratic Party have a great chance to win this year election.
In the other hand, Former Constitutional Court chief justice Mahfud MD said that he had received mandate from National Awakening Party or PKB's chairman, Muhaimin Iskandar to accompany Joko Widodo (known as Jokowi) as vice presidential candidate.
"I just met with Muhaimin and I have been confirmed as vice presidential candidate. We are waiting for the approval of PDIP and Nasdem party," Mahfud said.
He is optimistic that the coalition of PKB, PDIP and Nasdem party will be formed soon because the three parties have same platforms for the future of government. Erik Purnama Putra/Mutia Ramadhani
