REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chief Executive of the Democratic Party Sjarifuddin Hasan confirmed that the party is in the process of forming an alliance with the Golkar Party.
"Yes it's true," said Sjarifuddin, when contacted here on Saturday.
Earlier, the party formed an internal team of six people, called the Team of Six, which will collaborate with the representatives of the Golkar Party.
The Golkar Party representatives comprise Vice Chairman Agung Laksono, Syarief Tjitjip Soetardjo and Secretary General Idrus Marham.
The Democratic Party representatives are Secretary General Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono, Chief Executive Syarif Hasan and Secretary of the Supreme Council Jero Wacik.
"Yes, but the team has to report to the party. Just wait," added Sjarifuddin.
The two parties are likely to nominate Aburizal Bakrie and Pramono Edhie Wibowo in the presidential election.
The parties held several meetings in the last three days to decide the political line till the last day of the registration of the presidential and vice-presidential candidates by the General Election Commission.
The parties even held a National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) at the same time.
