REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Joko Widodo or Jokowi officially picked Jusuf Kalla (JK) as his runnung mate for the presidential election on July 9. The duo was declared by coalition parties on Monday, May 19, 2014.

"After thorough assessment and consultation from all party leaders (of Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle) and coalition partners especially from our patron leader Megawati Soekarnoputri, we decided that my running mate to sit as vice presidential candidate is Muhammad Jusuf Kalla," Jokowi announced, believing that he and his running mate would  make change towards better Indinesia.

While Kalla, senior politician from Golkar Party, expressed his gratitude for the mandate. "From the depth of my heart, i'm ready to be Jokowi's vice presidential candidate. I will work hard for the benefits of this nation," he said.
