REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, NEW DELHI -- An Indian leader Sunday urged West to recognize Iran's right to peaceful uses of nuclear energy.

In an exclusive interview with IRNA, Chaudhary Mateen Ahmed, MLA of Delhi Assembly said, "Being a crucial player for the peaceful development and prosperity of the region in particular and the world in general, the Persian Gulf nation is consistent with its international obligations."

He said that the West should trust Iran and should ignore the myths propagated against its peaceful nuclear activities.

"A responsible country, like Iran can never violate the NPT. Moreover, the religious decree issued by the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamene'i, must be highly respected," added Mateen.

Supporting the current Iran-P5+1 nuclear talks, the Indian politician appreciated Iran's diplomacy and expressed hope that the country will yield the fruitful results through political and diplomatic means and dialogue.

The Indian leader noted that Iran, through negotiations, can clear the propagated doubts and myths, but, cannot compromise over its legitimate rights in fulfilling the international obligations.

"Like all other countries, Iran, too, has the right to get the benefits from the nuclear technology," he further noted.

Mateen asserted that Iran, being a champion in diplomacy, will clinch the final agreement before the expiry of the Geneva agreement, valid until end of July this year.
