REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA -- Ambassador H.E. Mr Gurjit Singh today met the Vice Governor of Yogyakarta, H.E. Sri Paduka Pakualam IX.
At the meeting the Indian initiatives of organizing several cultural events in Yogyakarta was recognized and both agreed that further efforts will be made to enhance this.
Indian Embassy has held two Slice of India events at Universities in Yogyakarta, participated in the International Ramayana Festival and held 2 exhibitions, one on 'Women on Women' and the other '60 years of Indo-Indonesia Friendship' in Yogyakarta. Further efforts will continue.
Ambassador was briefed by the Vice Governor on efforts to create an identity based on information technology and science & technology in Yogyakarta.
It was agreed that Embassy and the Office of the Vice Governor will continue discussions in this regard so that closer cooperation in the fields of IT & S&T could be evolved.
The twining of Yogyakarta Universities, support to local institutions and development of human resources were discussed.
The Ambassador presented a book, 'Mari Belajar di India' (Studying in India) released by the Embassy to bring information on educational opportunities in India to the Vice Governor on this occasion.
It was agreed that a business delegation from the India Business Forum to look at certain specific sectors will be facilitated to visit Yogyakarta in the near future.
The results and the holding of the recent Indian elections, the largest in history, were also discussed during the meeting.
