REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The supreme leader of National Mandate Party, Amien Rais, said that Golkar Party was the "gong" to coalition in supporting Prabowo Subianto and Hatta Rajasa for president and vice president.
Rais referred to a musical instrument and in Javanese tradition, hitting the gong symbolizes the start of a ceremony or event. He appreciated Golkar Party's decision to join the coalition, especially because the party secure the second place on the general elections last July.
"This ini outstanding," Rais said on Monday, after Prabowo-Hatta were declared as candidates for coalition of Gerindra Party, PAN, Prosperous and Justice Party (PKS), and Crescent and Star Party (PBB)
Rais believes that Gorlkar Party would strengthen the coalition. Secretary General of PAN, Taufik Kurniawan is optimistic that Prabowo-Rajasa will win the election.
"We will build a winning team at national level after that," Kurniawan said.
