India's Apollo Hospital launches telemedicine center in Medan

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MEDAN -- As a first of its kind, the Apollo Hospitals from India in association with “PT Medik Assist4 you”, launched the Apollo Telemedicine Centre and Apollo Information Center at Medan on 14th May, 2014. It was formally inguarated by H.E. Basir Ahmed, Consul General of India, in the presence of other dignitaries.

It is the first Telemedicine Center of Apollo Hospitals in Indonesia.  It shall go a long way in supplementing the efforts of the Government of Indonesia in bringing the medical facility to the remote parts of Indonesia.

The joint initiative of the Indian and the Indonesian companies will bring the “State of the art” medical facilities available in India for the benefit of the people of Sumatra.  Branded as “e-Health” initiative, the Telemedicine Center shall bring quality healthcare and expert consultation within the reach of common population residing in medically inaccessible rural areas of Sumatra Island.

The Centre would also allow the patients to seek medical care in case of emergency or other conditions. The patients and doctors shall be able to share medical reports, examine patients through video or radiology images.
