REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- A 22-year-old cop only identified as JVG died of suspected drug overdose after consuming ecstasy pills in Jakarta's Stadium nightclub on May 16, a police spokesman said.

"JVG might have used the addictive drug before entering the nightclub but he then got more inside there," Spokesman of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Sen Coms Rikwanto said here Wednesday.

According to Rikwanto, Second Brig JVG might think that he was fit enough to consume the ecstasy pills.

In connection with his death, three policemen identified as Brigadier MM, Brigadier MY and Brigadier HB who were with JVG in the nightclub were questioned by the Jakarta police investigators, he said.

JVG worked at South Minahasa District's police precinct in North Sulawesi Province but he was in Megamendung, Bogor District, West Java Province, to participate in a police upgrading program.

The ill-fated policeman visited the Stadium nightclub after getting a holiday for four days, Rikwanto said.
