REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Presidential candidates, Jokowi Widodo (kown as Jokowi) and Jusuf Kalla vow to fight poverty through production village concept and sea toll. While Prabowo Subianto will focus on economic equalization, economic growth quality, and human development index (HDI).

The production village concept refers to a village as a center of production on agricultural commodities. However, the production must be supported by capital access, good marketing and post-harvest technologies. 

"The farmer will have confidence that their products are profitable and it encourage them to maintain their production," Jokowi of Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), said recently. 

Jokowi also plans to create more jobs to alleviate poverty. Economic equalization in Indonesia will open opportunity to create new jobs. Hence, Indonesia needs to strengthen maritime infrastructure by building sea toll to provide better access for cargo ships to distribute goods to small islands. 

While presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto and his running mate Hatta Rajasa, chose to focus on economic equalization, economic growth quality, and human development index (HDI). The pairs vow to supress gini ratio from 0.41 to 0.31.

"We will maximize pro-people programs," Rajasa said in the same occasion.

Rajasa is optimistic to narrow the gap between the poor and the rich. "We must widen people's opportinity to get jobs," he said. 

Yet, according to a political observer from Universitas diponegoro, Teguh Yuwono, all presidential vision and missions are still unclear to grassrooot level. He casted doubt that both candidates could fulfill the expectation of people at grassroot level.
