REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - President and vice presidential candidates, Prabowo Subianto and Hatta Rajasa will adopt foreign policy based on friendship with other countries and mutual respect.
"We respect all countries, but we also expect all countries to respect us," said Chairman of the Board of Trustees in Gerindra Party.
Subianto said that a thousand friends were too little, an enemy was too many. Therefore, Indonesia needs to make friends with all. He said that Indonesia must build all sectors, since this country must be strong economically politically, and culturally. Subianto added that Indonesia had to strengthen its human resources.
Meanwhile, Rajasa called the foreign policy concept as "all directions diplomacy. A thousand friends, zero enemy".
"All directions foreign policy emphasizes on diplomacy which put our national interest above all. While 'all directions' mean we put all countries as our friends," Rajasa said recently.
According to the chairman of National Mandate Party (PAN), Indonesia will build principle on cooperation and collaboration. Referring to problems in some Muslim countries, Hatta underlined the importance of non-interference principle as well as its emphaty towards others.
"Usually people ask Indonesian help in resolving conflicts," he said then adding that the role complied with the preamble of Indonesian constitution 1945. "Maintaining the world peace is our responsibility."
