REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The General Election Commission (KPU) officially announced Joko Widodo and his running mate Jusuf Kalla as well as Prabowo Subianto and running mate Hatta Rajasa as presidential and vice presidential candidates for 9 July elections. The announcement is based on decree No. 453/KPTS/KPU/2014.
"We have two pairs candidates for the next election, Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla and Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa. Each of them will be guarded by at least 93 police officers or total of 372 police officers who work three shifts daily," KPU's commissioner, Hadar Nafis Gumay said on Saturday in Jakarta.
Jokowi-JK are supported by four parties, namely Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), National Democratic (Nasdem) Party, National Awakening Party (PKB) and People's Conscience Party (Janura). Prabowo-Hatta are supported by six parties, namely Gerindra, National Mandate Party (PAN), United Development Party (PPP), Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), Crescent Star Party (PKS) and Golkar Party.
All candidates have submitted 26 required documents, including State Officials Wealth Report (LHKPN) and passed medical tests.
