REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, HAGUE -- Some dancers of Yogyakarta and Pakualaman Palace are performing an excerpt of the epic Ramayana to enthrall Tong Tong Fair visitors in Malievel, The Hague, being held between May 29 and June 19.
"The Tong Tong Fair committee invites us to showcase the culture of Yogyakarta," Pakualaman Palace spokesperson KPH. Indrokusumo stated here on Sunday (June 1).
Indrokusumo explained that the Ramayana ballet is performed by the Yogyakarta Palace dancers as a part of their efforts to promote Yogyakarta's culture in the Netherlands.
"Although the dancers had only three months of preparation time, yet they did not find any difficulty in performing the ballet," he added.
Besides the Ramayana ballet performance, the Yogyakarta and Pakualaman Palace dancers also showcased several other traditional Yogyakarta dance performances, such as Beksan Inom, Serimpi Tejonoto, and Golek Cluntang.
The Tong Tong Fair Foundation also invited Didik Ninik Towok, a versatile artist of Yogyakarta and Afif Syukur, a leading batik designer.
