REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMARANG -- Semarang, Central Java, June 5 (Antara) - The police has arrested two thieves who robbed a bank customer and also conducted several crimes in the Central Java Province.
"The thieves were part of a group of 12 perpetrators that conducted their crimes in the Central Java area. We have arrested two of them," Chief of Semarang Resort Police Senior Commissioner Djihartono reported here on Thursday.
The two thieves were shot in the leg by the police. They were identified as 32-year-old Alansyah who hails from Wedi, Klaten District and 38-year-old Hadi Waluyo who belongs to Kaliwungu of Kudus District.
Djihartono pointed out that the thieves robbed the victim by puncturing the tires of the vehicle, which triggered the driver to check the car.
While the driver was busy checking the car, the thieves took the money kept inside the car by breaking the window and escaped.
"When the victim got out of the car, one of the thieves broke the car's window and fled the scene with the money," Djihartono added.
The police noted that the gang had conducted crimes in various cities, such as Semarang and Demak.
Djihartono remarked that the officers had also arrested another perpetrator after investigating Alansyah and Hadi. The officer handed over the thieves to the Demak Resort Police since the robbery had taken place in that area.
The police are still on the lookout for other thieves who originated from outside Java Island.
Djihartono added that the thieves have violated Article 363 of Criminal Law on Robbery.
