REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MEDAN -- Presidential candidate No. 1, Joko Widodo (known as Jokowi) held a campaign in Medan, North Sumatra related to presidential election on Tuesday. One of his agendas in the province was to visit Sinabung refugees in Kabanjahe, Karo district.

Sinabung volcano has been sporadically erupting since September 2013. The explosions began intensifying in early 2014.

Jokowi was also scheduled to meet with five thousand teachers to clarify the elimination of teacher certification allowance. According to Jokowi, if he becomes a president, he will raise the teachers' allowances, but he won't erase teacher certification.

Former Mayor of Solo also carried out an impromptu visit, now popularly known as blusukan to a number of markets and villages, such as Belawan village, locally known as a fisherman village. He met with a thousand merchants and residents in Pancurbatu market in Deliserdang district.

There are so many people who want to see him, so that Jokowi and his campaign team must walk about one kilometer. After North Sumatra, Jokowi will also visit a number of cities in West Java and Central Java.
