REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TANGERANG -- A drug dealer identified by the initials, AB or AS, was shot dead by a police officer at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, for resisting an arrest attempt.
AB or AS, was an Indonesian national and a member of the international drug mafia, Head of the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport police's anti-illicit drug unit Commissioner Guntur stated here on Monday.
The drug dealer was cornered and soon to be arrested when he resisted and tried to hit the police officers with a motorcycle, Guntur claimed.
A police officer identified with the initial as chief brigadier JK suffered a broken bone in his leg after being hit by the motorcycle.
Another police officer then shot AB in the chest.
"Because he resisted and tried to escape, a police officer shot him. He died on the way to the hospital," Guntur added.
Following the move, the police have arrested three members of AB, namely AD who acted as the drug trafficker in South Kalimantan, IP as a drug trafficker in Jakarta, and HEN as a courier.
Commissioner Guntur emphasized that the police will take stern action against drug-related criminals trying to resist any arrest.
Earlier, the Soekarno-Hatta police shot a Nigerian drug dealer, but he survived.
