REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Non-active Jakarta Governor as well as presidential candidate Joko Widodo attended the celebration of Jakarta citys 487th anniversary which was held at the National Monument area on Sunday morning.

"Happy birthday, Jakarta," said Jokowi who arrive using white t-shirt and black training pants.

Upon his arrival, Jokowi shake hands with several Jakarta's high ranking officials who also attend the Sunday event. Jakarta city celebrates its 487th anniversary this year. Several activities were conducted such as marathon race held this Sunday and Jakarta Night Festival which was held last Saturday (June 21).

The Jakarta night festival on Saturday evening was held in MH Thamrin road in Central Jakarta. Nine stages were set up along Jalan MH Thamrin thoroughfare for musical performances to highlight the event from 7pm to 11pm.

"The stages have been set up in cooperation between the Jakarta administration and private parties as well as provincial-owned companies," committee chairman Bambang Soegiono said.

A number of well-known artistes performed in the festival including Sheila on Seven Band, Wali Band, Mulan Jameela, Rif, White Shoes, the Couples Company, Peewee Gaskins and Indonesian Idol stars.

Each stage presented different entertainment shows such as rock music, "dangdut", percussion and "keroncong tugu" music performances, Bambang said.
