REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LEBAK -- A new cement factory being built in the sub-district of Bayah, in the regency of Lebak, Banten province, is expected to come on stream in 2015.
Construction of the project is already 60 percent completed, head of the integrated licensing service agency (BPPT) of the Lebak regency Hari Setiono said here on Thursday.
The cement factory which is owned by PT Cemindo Gemilang is built with an estimated cost of Rp6.4 trillion.
The cement factory has potential multieffect in that district, he said, adding, it would contribute to the regional income and provide new jobs.
Even now the economy of the local people is brisker with new housing complex and hotels and restaurants already built near the project, he cited.
He said investors began to set eye on Lebak in the past three years because of its abundant natural resources yet untapped.
He said there were 24 foreign companies and 17 domestic companies invested in Lebak until May, 2014.
The largest foreign company investing in the regency of Lebak is the cement factory of Cemindo Gemilang.
The cement factory is being built over a 500 hectare plot of land in the sub-district of Bayah.
The factory will have a production capacity of 10,000 tons of clinker per day when it starts operation in 2015, Hari said.
The factory could produce up to 4 million tons of cement per year to meet growing demand for the building material in the country, he added.
"We will continue to encourage and invite investors both foreign and domestic investors to Lebak," he said.
He said the regency of Lebak is included in the Master Plan for Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesian Economic Development (MP3EI) of the government.
The district administration, therefore, would facilitate investors both foreign and local investors and guarantee security, he said.
"We will make Lebak a convenient place for investment. I am confident that investment would grow faster in this district," he said.
