REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TANGERANG -- The police in Tangerang city, Banten province, have beefed up security arrangements ahead of the July 9 presidential election, Tangerang Deputy Mayor Sachrudin stated on Wednesday.
Sachrudin noted that the city government fully supported the efforts taken by the police to tighten security ahead of and during the presidential election.
"The city government and the police will continue to maintain security and order, so that the election can run peacefully," Sachrudin emphasized.
He also appreciated the performance of the police who have so far been able to create conducive security situation in the city of Tangerang.
Sachrudin also called on the local community to play an active role and to help the police in maintaining the security situation during the election.
"The election will be held during the fasting month, and we hope all public elements here can exercise self-control and not be easily provoked," Sachrudin added.
Meanwhile, Tangerang Police Chief Riad stated that the police will remain neutral in the election.
"The police in Tangerang will remain neutral and continue to ensure security during the election," he added.
