REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Each presidential candidates, Prabowo Subianto and Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo claimed his own victory only several hours after the polling closed on Wednesday, July 9. They claimed victory after quick count surveys and polls released their results.
Jokowi and Jusuf Kalla declared their victory accompanied by Chairman of Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Megawati Soekarnoputri. Shortly afterward, Prabowo Subianto and Hatta Rajasa claimed victory.
"We ask all supporters and people to keep your eyes until the official count announced by General Election Commission," Prabowo said on Wednesday.
Prabowo-Hatta used three pollings collaborating with TV One and Vivanews. The pollsters are Indonesian Survey Network or JSI (50.28 percent), Puskaptis (52.05 percent) and National Survey Institute or LSN (50.54 percent).
Yet, four other pollings show the No. 1 presidential candidate is five percent below Jokowi. For example, Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) recorded the turnout was 87 percent and Jokowi-JK got 52.51 percent while Prabowo-Hatta got 47.49 percent.
