REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia's President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was scheduled to hold a press conference on the presidential election at his residence in Puri Cikeas, Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday.
Presidential spokesperson Julian Aldrin Pasha told an Antara reporter here on Wednesday that the press conference had been confirmed for Wednesday evening.
Julian noted that the press conference will address the presidential vote on Wednesday, the results of which will be announced by the General Election Commission (KPU) on July 22.
Meanwhile, as of Wednesday afternoon at around 1 p.m. local time, some quick counts have been released by various polls, showing conflicting results for the two candidates, Prabowo Subianto and Joko Widodo.
While some quick counts forecast that the presidential candidate pairing of Prabowo Subianto and Hatta Rajasa would win the election, but others forecast their rivals Joko Widodo and Jusuf Kalla as the winning pair.
Previously, the president had called on both presidential candidates to honor the results of the 2014 presidential election.
"For those who win the election, it is their responsibility to lead this country. For those who receive the least votes, they must accept it with sincerity," Yudhoyono stated after casting his vote at a polling booth near his residence in Puri Cikeas, Bogor, West Java.
According to the KPU, a total of 190,307,134 voters have registered for the presidential election to be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, which includes 2,038,711 overseas voters, with 486,866 polling stations throughout the nation.
